Whitewater Overview

With a base elevation at 5400 feet, or 1640 meters above sea level, Whitewater consistently provides fabulous conditions throughout the season.

Whitewater is suited for every type and level of skier or boarder, offering everything from smooth, groomed cruising runs to powder-filled steep-treed forests to wide open bowls. The Snow School is made up of qualified, experienced instructors and offers a wide range of programs and clinics to suit every level.

There is a fully serviced, cozy day lodge that offers all you will need to compliment your day on the mountain. The famous Fresh Tracks Café offers a fantastic array of healthy, eclectic and reasonably priced meals prepared fresh right in front of you.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Whitewater is Castlegar, 32 minutes drive away.

Canadian Rockies airport is also within three hours drive.

Castlegar is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

Usual opening is mid December.

History and Development

Whitewater Ski Area was discovered in the late 1960's when two businessmen, Tex Mowatt and John Stanger, were joy riding on their motorcycles and came across a natural ski bowl. In 1969 the two men got together with the Silver King Ski Club and initiated the development of the Whitewater Basin. Today Whitewater is a large ski area spanning two mountains and served by three double chairs recognised for its open bowls, gladed chutes and tree skiing . Full on-site facilities include eateries, bar and rental and retail shop. Annual snowfall can exceed 1000 cm. 20 minute drive to all accommodations.
