Snow Forecast Summary - 26th January 2012

Published : 26-Jan-2012 10:36

Once again we can report the fall of heavy snow in many alpine areas. Last weekend in particular saw accumulations of around 1 metre (three feet) over several days, for parts of the French, Swiss and Austrian Alps. Since then clear weather has become the norm, with temperatures varying around the January averages.

Excellent skiing conditions are being reported from just about everywhere in the European Alps now.

Beyond the Alps, heavy snow has also been reported from South East Europe - Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, etc.

European Weather and Snow This Coming Week

Further snow is expected over the next few days for just about the entire Alpine region, although the quantities are unlikely to equal those of a week ago. Some heavy falls are possible but they will likely be localized and brief.

A change to distinctly cooler weather could be on the cards for the European Alps early next week.

The forecast models are starting to indicate that early February is likely to be noticeably colder than now, with a possibility of more snow in around a weeks time.

Keep calm and carry on...
