Davos Decides to Start Season Early - This Weekend

Published : 28-Oct-2016 03:36

The lift company at Davos Klosters in Switzerland has decided to open for the ski season earlier than planned – tomorrow, Saturday 29 October in fact – due to favourable weather and snow conditions.

The funicular railway and lifts on Davos Parsenn (Parsenn 1st and 2nd section, Totalp 4-seater chairlift) will be open this coming weekend and the Parsennhütte, Höhenweg and Weissfluhjoch restaurants will all be open to provide sustenance to skiers and snowboarders.

In addition to the downhill runs a 4km cross country trail will open using snow stored from last season.
"Davos Klosters is currently looking at its very best: day after day of sunshine, autumnal mood and a hint of winter in the mountains. The fantastic conditions have convinced us to open the winter season this coming weekend," said a lift company spokesperson.

Lift passes cost 44.80 CHF for an adult one day ticket or 86.80 CHF for a two day pass.

Arosa Lenzerheide also expects to open tomorrow, thanks in part to a special plus-temperatures snowmaking machine.

The main season at Davos Klosters is scheduled to start on 18 November, when, for five weeks until 25 December 2016, anyone booking an overnight stay with one of the listed partners, in the Davos Klosters Holiday Shop or with Davos Klosters Guest Information Office, will receive a ski pass for the open Davos Klosters Mountains ski arenas free of charge for each night of their stay
