Up to 40cm Fresh Snow in Eastern Europe

Published : 04-Jan-2017 01:32

Ski areas in Eastern Europe have received up to 40cm o fresh snow in the last 48 hours as more unsettled conditions finally arrive in central Europe on Monday and Tuesday after nearly two months of mostly dry weather.

The heavy snow is continuing to move west with the Arlberg region reporting 20cm of fresh snow yesterday in Austria and similar snowfalls in Bavaria.

Among the ski areas posting the biggest accumulations were leading resorts in the Czech and Slovak Republics such as Špindlerův Mlýn (pictured above this morning - 40cm), Harrachov and Pec pod Sněžkou (both 30cm) and Vítkovice / Aldrov (20cm).

Not every country in Eastern Europe has seen significant snowfall so far but resorts in areas not yet that snowy such as Bulgarian resorts, are forecast to get good snowfalls too later this week.
