La Plagne will organise another "fun-filled family festival" this Easter with the return of it's 'Subli'cimes' festival, back for the third year and running from 5th – 18th April.
'Subli'cimes' has quickly brought a reputation for being a little different to the many other Alpine Easter events designed to keep people coming to the end of the season.
The idea is to offer activities not usually associated with ski resorts (along with fun activities that are) to each of the resort's six key mountain peak areas. The locations and activities are designed to appeal to non-skiers as well as skiers and boarders and are accessible to all.
So look out for mountain top jacuzzis and saunas; water slides, a Viking village, a mini snow train 'lost in the mountains', battling Vikings, a 'Burlesque corner' and the world's highest pop-up beauty salon.
The six areas will be:
Arpette (2,385m) will be designed for chill-seekers and dubbed: 'Zen Altitude' Here you'll find tTwo six-seat Jacuzzis, one with an inflatable igloo cover, and a five-seat barrel sauna; seated physiotherapy massages; discovery workshops held outside or in a yurt: tai chi, qi gong, sophrology, yoga, do-in (self-massage) and active meditation and guests can visit the relaxation area with deckchairs, hammocks and zen decoration, and sip on herbal teas.
Roche de Mio (2,700m) will be the 'Adrenalin' peak with 10-metre long waterslide to whizz down on rubber rings and a 15-metre long giant ball 'Wipe Out' course - try jumping from one ball to the next to get to the other side of the inflatables. There'll also be a unique DJ cabin car with partner Jaguar Land Rover, bringing music to the slopes (5 – 11 April).
Grande Rochette (2,505m) will be themed on 'The Viking' and feature a viking village atmosphere: visit booths and a large tent, decorated with a longship on a sea of snow. There's be Warrior combat demonstrations, archery and javelin initiation (subject to snow conditions), games to test strength and traditional Viking games of Mia and Talbut. The area will also offer creative workshops: making mini longships, shields, wrist protectors, sundials, rune initiation; guests can dress in Viking costumes in the photo corner, and sit on a large snow-sculpted chair for fun photo opportunities, learn about myths and legends and decorate runic stones and try hot apple juice, mead, and savoury pancakes.
Fornelet (1,970m) will be for 'magic-believers' and themed as 'Enchantment' There'll be entertainment for all ages in a magical, wintery setting with the chance to ride a mini snow-train lost in the mountains, discover a wooden wheel 'carried by the wind' and enjoy surprises and sweets from the snow fairy.
For pamper-seekers: 'Beauty and Nature' will be located on Bécoin (2,350m) and will feature a Burlesque corner on the theme of 'Back to Nature' as well as the world's highest pop-up beauty salon (brow shaping, make-up, and nail varnish by student beauticians from the Silvya Terrade school). There'll be a barber shop (beard shaping and pre- and post-shave treatments), a Tattoo Box body painting (temporary tattoos and face painting); a naturopath will be on site offering energy smoothies, fruit and vegetable juice extractions, allowing visitors to create their own energy bars, and giving dietary advice and guests can visit the solarium and sun-cream bar.
Finally on Rossa (2,380m) the theme will be 'Dinosaurs in the Ice Age' which does not seek to question whether there were dinosaurs in the ice cage but includes a mysterious ice grotto, shaped like a giant dinosaur egg; dinosaur-themed sculptures dug into the snow; the chance to take part in fun and creative palaeontology games to find animal prints in the snow or to discover hidden bones, and see an exhibition of fossils and a snow half-pipe.
