Details of a new $500 million indoor snow resort have been revealed in Australia.

Winter Sports World has been nicknamed 'The Giant Esky' by Australians and will be one of the largest attraction projects in Australia and the biggest ever in Western Sydney.

The venue will use real snow and include a 300m run for experienced skiers and snowboarders, as well as beginners' slopes and a snow play area.

Ice climbing, outdoor rock climbing, a 4-star hotel and restaurant with snow views will all also be created.

The project will inject over $200 million per annum into the local economy, bringing almost 3000 jobs to the area and making the company the largest private employer in the Penrith area.

According to Managing Director Peter Magnisalis

"Winter Sports World will change the Penrith and Western Sydney landscape in a way and to such a degree that the whole world will sit up and take notice."

Initial planning was approved in January 2024 and construction is due to start in 2025.
