Monte Catria

Monte Catria, at 1701 meters, represents the highest part of the northern sector of the Appennino Umbro-Marchigiano range. It was also mentioned in the Divine Comedy. the giant 18m (60 feet) high cross, weighing 16 tonnes, was first built at the top in 1901 but destroyed by a storm in 1907. It was rebuilt in the 1960s. The latest ski lift was built as recently as 2006. There is run all the way back to the village from the top when snow conditions are good, but the lift served terrain is at the top.


The Italian ski resort of Monte Catria is at an altitude of 450m, with 4km of marked runs.

Monte Catria has direct access to 4km of downhill skiing, with 4 marked pistes, served by a total of 2 ski lifts.


There is skiing to suit a range of abilities.

 By Air

The nearest airport to Monte Catria is Perugia, 82 minutes drive away.

Ancona, Rimini, Forlì, Bologna and Firenze airports are all within three hours drive.
