New Gondola And Wider Pistes For Arabba

New Gondola And Wider Pistes For Arabba

Published : 04-Oct-2016 08:00

The cult Italian destination of Arabba in the Dolomites will unveil a new eight-seats-per-cabin gondola lift this winter.

The Leitner built "Portados" gondola is just under a mile (1,438m) long, climbs 492m and can carry 2,400 people/hour.

Arabba, located next to the Marolada glacier, is known for having more extensive steep and off-piste terrain than most areas in the region.

The resort is located on the famed Sella Ronda circuit next to Alta Badia and is part of the Dolomiti Superski pass but its remote location led to it being all but cut off by the last severe snow storm in the region a few seasons ago.

In addition to the new gondola the main slope n° 1 "Salère" has been widened from the top station "Carpazza" to the beginning of the slope "Alpenrose", doubling in width from 35 to 70 metres.

Piste 13 (linking Ornella and Seurasas) has also been widened and gets a new snowmaking system and a third run, "Savinè" (from Bec de Roces to Plan Boè) has been widened on its steepest section and also gets a new snowmaking system.

Finally the resort's Lezuo chairlift will be more comfortable to rise as it gets new seats.
