Heavy Snow then Blue Skies For Final Weekend of Season

There are some great conditions in the Alps for the final weekend of the season at some still-open ski areas after heavy snow over the last few days was followed by still conditions and blue skies today (Saturday 29th).
Verbier reported 30cm/a foot of snow in 24 hours to this morning but is now showing a perfect day on its webcams.
There are similar reports from Livigno (22cm), La Clusaz (25cm), Ischgl (30cm) and Austria's Obertauern says it has had 50cm in 24 hours on Thursday/Friday.
About a dozen ski areas in Europe will stay open through May and they've also been benefiting from good end-of-April snowfalls. Austria's glaciers, seven of which are open for at least the first week of May and several in to June and July, including the Stubai (pictured above this morning) and year-round Hintertux have also reported 30cm/a foot of fresh snow each.
There was also 25-40cm of snow for the Zugspitz Glacier above Garmisch, Engelberg and Zermatt.
April has ended a much snowier month than December and there must be some frustration at resorts like Morzine which struggled for snow cover for much of the season, particularly the early months, but got heavy snow this past week after they had closed for the season.
