Heavy Snow As Ryding Prepares for Hahnenkamm Slalom

So far the Hahnenkamm slalom race appears to be on despite heavy snow on the course at Kiutzbuhel.
Britain's Dave Ryding will be attempting to go one better than a year ago when he placed second in the race behind World champion Marcel Hirscher.
It was Britain's best result in an Alpine ski race for more than 35 years, Ryding had been leading after the first leg.
11cm of snow is forecast for the village today but the race currently appears to still be on.
The Alps are currently in the midst of a fresh snow storm with Solden and Stubai amongst resorts that have announced they're closing their ski areas this morning as the volume of snow makes it unsafe to operate.
Elsewhere Zermatt announced last night that access in and out of the village was closed due to avalanche danger and has not yet updated their status and Val Thorens also announced shortly after midnight that the road up from Les Menuires was closed and said that emergency accommodation was available in Moutiers in the valley.
