Snowy Start to February in the Alps
Snowy Start to February in the Alps
Published : 01-Feb-2018 11:41
Resorts across the Alps are reporting fresh snow falling at present, after a mostly dry and sunny final week of January.
Accumulations of up to 30cm (a foot) have been reported in the Alps since yesterday.
Currently the snowfall is not expected to be on the scale of some of the dramatic January falls and most of it should be finished by the end of Friday, tomorrow, so hopefully transfers on Saturday and Sunday should be clear.
Among the biggest falls reported so far are 28cm for Les Gets (pictured above this morning) in the Portes du Soleil ski region of France; Praz sur Arly in the Espace Diamant area reported 25cm of fresh snow and Samoens in the Grand Massif 22cm. Alpe d'Huez has had 21cm and a number of areas over the border in Switzerland including Villars and St Luc, 20cm.
Many other resorts have had snow, and it is continuing to fall, but a little less so far.
