New Chairlift for 2018 Ski Season in Australia

New Chairlift for 2018 Ski Season in Australia

Published : 22-May-2018 08:32

The Australian 2018 ski season kicks off in just over a fortnight and one of the country's resorts will have a new quad chairlift in place for the start of the season.

Falls Creek will unveil its new high speed quad, the eagle Express, built by Leitner-Poma at a cost of $9M when the season starts on Saturday, 9th June.

The new lift has replaced the old triple chair in the Village Bowl and will make reaching the back side of the resort much quicker, easier and more comfortable.

The Australian ski season begins each year over the Queens Birthday long weekend which this year runs from 9th to 11th June. Aussie ski areas open for the season whether there's snow or not, although two of country's areas, Mt Baw Baw and Mt Buller. Now have all-weather snowmaking machines so will open with at least snow on the 9th, or possibly before.

Australian areas did receive a significant pre-season snowfall of up to 50cm accumulations earlier this month but much of this has since thawed away.
