Snow in Africa With 2018 Ski Season Starting There Next Week

There's been fresh snowfall in Lesotho and South Africa over the past few days - with the start of Southern Africa's 2018 ski season less than a week away.
Afriski ski area in Lesotho (pictured above yesterday) reported a good snowfall and about 10cm (4 inches) of fresh snow. Access roads, which are amongst the highest altitude roads in Africa, were closed this morning but are expected to re-open
Afriski is due to open next week on Thursday 7th June for their 2018 ski season. Tiffindell in SoutH africa, the region's other commercial ski field, has also had fresh snow and is also opening shortly.
Both high-altitude ski areas have a kilometre of so of ski runs served by drag lifts and are often reliant on snow making for snow cover, although occasionally do get very big snowfalls.
Africa is the only continent where ski areas operate in both the northern (Algeria, Morocco and Egypt - indoors) and southern hemispheres.
