First images of possible Sheffield Ski Village redevelopment

Plans for the redevelopment of the former Sheffield Ski Village site are becoming clearer.
The proposed Skyline Sheffield Project would be based at Parkwood Springs, around one mile north of Sheffield city centre, and forms part of Sheffield City Council's wider long-term plans to regenerate the area.
The Skyline Sheffield development would occupy almost 15 hectares within the wider 150-hectare Parkwood Springs masterplan.
The current status for skiing is that a dry ski slope is also being explored as a potential future addition but is not part of the initial development proposals.
The proposals include a range of leisure facilities, with gravity-powered downhill karting, known as Luge rides, among the main attractions.
The scheme would also feature a family playground, food and drink facilities and an indoor education attraction.
Other facilities remain part of the longer-term vision for the site, including a zipline and surf wave experience.
A public consultation on the proposals has been extended by one week following strong interest, giving members of the public additional time to ask questions and comment on the plans.
