Nestled near Hallstatt, Obertraun/Dachstein provides skiers and snowboarders with stunning landscapes and a variety of runs. The resort features modern facilities and a welcoming ambiance, making it an ideal destination for winter sports enthusiasts.

The ski area of Obertraun/Dachstein is in the Austrian Alps at an altitude of 510m, with 14km of marked runs.

Obertraun/Dachstein is part of the Dachstein West ski area with access to 97 marked pistes, served by a total of 81 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Obertraun/Dachstein itself (14km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Dachstein West ski resorts of Abtenau, Annaberg im Lammertal, Gosau, Katrin - Bad Ischl, Krippenstein and Rußbach.

With ski lifts as high as 2,100m, snow cover is generally reliable.

Skiing

Obertraun is primarily served by the Dachstein massif, with elevations reaching up to 2,995 meters. Skiers can enjoy over 30 kilometers of well-groomed pistes, including the popular blue runs of the Dachstein West area and access via lifts such as the Dachstein Glacier cable car.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Obertraun/Dachstein is Salzburg, 80 minutes drive away.

Linz, Graz, Munich, Klagenfurt, Ljubljana and Innsbruck Airport airports are all within three hours drive.

Obertraun/Dachstein is accessible via major airports in Salzburg and Linz, with direct transport options available. The resort is easily reached by car or public transport, making it convenient for visitors.

The 11 ski lifts are able to uplift 700 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Season Dates

When is Obertraun/Dachstein open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is mid December, and usual closing is Mid April.

NOTE:- Ski area, lift and piste opening is subject to Current Snow Conditions.
