With over 27 kilometers of ski runs, Winterberg caters to both beginners and experienced skiers. Its modern lift system ensures quick access to the slopes, making it a favorite destination for winter sports enthusiasts.

The ski area of Winterberg is at an altitude of 700m, with 40km of marked runs.

Winterberg is part of the Wintersport Arena Sauerland ski area with access to 41 marked pistes, served by a total of 3 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Winterberg itself (40km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Wintersport Arena Sauerland ski resorts of Altastenberg, Postwiesen, Usseln, Willingen-Upland and Züschen.

The skiing is at relatively low altitude, so snow cover can be variable.

Skiing

Winterberg features the highest peak in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Kahler Asten, standing at 841 meters. The resort boasts 27 slopes across several ski areas, including the popular Herrloh, with notable pistes like the 'Rote Piste' and efficient lifts such as the 'Sesselbahn Herrloh' and 'Zwölferbahn.'

Winterberg offers good sking, particularly, for Intermediate and Beginner skiers.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Winterberg is Paderborn, 65 minutes drive away.

Dortmund, Zurich, Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, Köln Bonn, Strasbourg, St. Gallen-Altenrhein, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Düsseldorf and Berne airports are all within three hours drive.

Paderborn is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

Winterberg is easily accessible by car, with the A46 motorway leading directly to the resort. The nearest major airports are Dortmund and Frankfurt, both offering convenient transport options to reach the slopes.

The 19 ski lifts are able to uplift 15,000 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow Making

Snow-making is available, on 30km of ski runs, with 100 snow cannons.

When is Winterberg open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is mid December, and usual closing is Mid March.
