Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig

Reputed to be the highest and sunniest ski resort in the Pyrenees, Pas de la Casa - linked to Grau Roig - also claims the best snow record. North-facing slopes help snow quality and quantity to be reliable from December through to mid-May, with snow-making also available.

On the French border it is a lively resort with duty-free shopping.

Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig is part of the Grandvalira ski area with access to 216km of downhill skiing, with 286 marked pistes, served by a total of 66 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig itself (100km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Grandvalira ski resorts of Canillo, Encamp, Ordino-Arcalís and Soldeu / El Tarter.

The ski resort itself is at 2,050m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With ski lifts as high as 2,640m, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

Skiing

Pas de la Casa's lift system covers nearly half of the country and - thanks to their geography - Pas de la Casa and Grau Roig have an excellent snow record.

A number of well-regarded English-speaking ski schools are located in Pas de la Casa and Grau Roig, with lessons available for skiing, snowboarding, cross-country, telemark and snow blades.

For Beginners

The Piso beginner's area, at the Funicamp mid-station, and Pessons at Grau Roig are ideal places for the first few days on skis. Green runs make up 25% of the overall skiing area.

For Intermediates

There is a wide variety of blue runs, ideal for intermediates, as well as many reds for progression.

For Experts

There are more than a dozen black runs, including the challenging Fis Taupes and the tree-lined Granota on the Grau side.

There are 2 slalom stadiums at the Costa Rodona.

There are a variety of pistes to suit all levels of skier ability, from Beginner to Expert.

 By Air

The nearest airport to Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig is Perpignan, 128 minutes drive away.

Carcassonne, Barcelona and Toulouse airports are all within three hours drive.
